Why post here.
You already do the work. This is about the people who would help if they knew it was happening.
Your bulletin reaches the people who already came.
A Sunday announcement reaches the room. An insert reaches whoever picks one up. A group text reaches the people already on it. Every one of those channels speaks to people who already come.
Meanwhile the family three miles away who would have given a Saturday to that workday never heard about it, because there was no way for them to.
Four practical things.
-
Opens opportunities to find Jesus
Some of the people who show up will not know Him yet. They came because a neighbour needed a roof, and they spend a morning working beside people who pray before they start. A stranger meets your church there in a way no flyer manages, and meets Christ in your people before anyone hands them anything to read. J217 does not engineer that and takes no credit for it. It is the reason any of this is worth doing.
-
Help you do not have
Most congregations run short. A workday that needs twenty gets eight, and the same eight every time. Listing it puts the ask in front of people outside your rolls who are looking for exactly this.
-
You keep the relationship
Every listing carries your name, your contact, and your own signup link. Volunteers reach you directly. J217 never sits between your church and the people who come.
-
Nothing to manage
No account, no login, no dashboard to keep current. Post a listing in a couple of minutes. Ongoing groups stay up until you ask us to take them down.
What it costs, and what we ask.
It costs nothing. No fee to post, no fee to browse, no plan to add one. J217 takes no donations and processes no payments, so there is no version of this where you get billed later.
We ask three things. That you are authorized to post for your organization, that the details are accurate and you tell us when they change, and that your church holds to what is set out in where we stand.
You stay responsible for your own activity. Safety, supervision, and insurance are yours, the same as they already are. J217 is a noticeboard, and the terms say so in as many words.
What this is not.
J217 is new, and the board is not full. Posting today puts your activity in front of a small audience that is still growing, and pretending otherwise would be a poor way to start a relationship with a church.
What it does do is cost you nothing to try. One listing, a couple of minutes, and you find out whether anyone comes.
Post something you already have planned.
Whatever your church already has planned this month. A workday, a drive, a study that meets every week.
